YLLR is an exciting community of young people working to extend and defend human rights in Australia. We aim to achieve social change through practical, reform-orientated advocacy.
YLLR volunteers work in groups each focusing on a particular human rights theme. In 2016, these groups are Criminal Justice; Refugee and Asylum Seeker Policy; and Equality and Government Accountability. Each group is guided by two supervisors who are experts in these fields.
Through this group work, the program provides a platform for volunteers to create advocacy projects they are passionate about and develop their strategic advocacy skills in the process.
We are looking for dynamic and socially engaged volunteers who are ready to hit the ground running. We are looking for people who are passionate about human rights, motivated, enjoy group work, are clear communicators, and have a demonstrated ability to engage in rigorous analysis of law or policy. Experience in any legal, political or communication studies or work, human rights advocacy, writing law reform submissions, managing events, producing publications, running social media campaigns or making educational videos are highly regarded.
