Alan Missen Oration at MWF: Jennifer Robinson, Free Speech and Human Rights

Liberty Victoria with the support of the Alan Missen Foundation is delighted to announce that Jennifer Robinson will be giving the 2015 Alan Missen Oration at the Melbourne Writers Festival.

Australian human rights lawyer and free speech advocate Jennifer Robinson has been named a ‘Pro Bono Hero’ by the UK Attorney-General and described as 'the new face of human rights law' by Ozy magazine in the US. As Director of Legal Advocacy for the Bertha Foundation in London, she has created a global program to facilitate the next generation of human rights lawyers and supports some of the world's most controversial and cutting-edge human rights cases. She’s worked with Geoffrey Robertson QC, defended Julian Assange, advocated for accountability within the Catholic Church on widespread child sex abuse, and worked for West Papua's independence. Why are human rights so crucial? She’ll explain.
