2018 Annual General Meeting & Alan Missen Oration

Description

Join us as we present this year’s Liberty Victoria Annual General Meeting followed by our 2018 Alan Missen Oration

Liberty Victoria members are invited to join us from 5.30pm, as Liberty Victoria holds our AGM to present our annual and financial reports for the previous 12 months, and to ratify the election of members to our Executive, and Management and Policy Committees.

From 6.00pm to 6.30pm, Liberty Victoria will host the annual Alan Missen Oration in conjunction with the Alan Missen Foundation. This year's speaker will be Nyadol Nyuon.

Nyadol Nyuon is a lawyer, community advocate, writer, and accomplished public speaker. She holds a bachelor degree in Arts from Victoria University and a law degree from the University of Melbourne.

Nyadol arrived in Australia as refugee in 2005. She was born in a refugee camp in Ethiopia, and spent some of her childhood in the Kakuma Refugee camp in Kenya. She is passionate about social justice and a fairer society and speaks on issues concerning human rights, multiculturalism, social cohesion, race and media and on diversity and representation.

It's anticipated the event will wrap up at 6:30, followed by some drinks and nibbles at the venue.
