Liberty Victoria has established a new form of membership which we think is suited for firms and organisations enabling you to support Liberty Victoria in the important work it has done over many decades while getting something in return.
The world is currently enduring a period of considerable upheaval which has led to a rise in populism and a threat to human rights and civil liberties. These rights and liberties have been threatened and even extinguished in some parts of the world but it is important to note that our country and our state is not immune from these threats. The election of Donald Trump for a second presidential term has seen conservatives here seeking to not only laud his approach but to emulate it. The Murdoch press has been gleeful in its welcoming of the shift to the right.
Our federal government has capitulated on things ranging from the rights of people seeking asylum, to continued inaction on climate change to introduction of mandatory sentencing (in direct conflict with the parties policy platform). Our state government, under significant electoral pressure, is seemingly hurtling towards a law an order election auction. Its opposition is made up of a considerable flank of religious zealots who do not believe in the protection of rights of LGBTIQ members of our community.
A voice to stand up for human rights and civil liberties has never been more important. With your assistance we can be such a voice.
Our annual Voltaire Awards dinner is our major fundraising event. As part of this package, your organisation would receive a table of 10 at that event (which ordinarily would cost $2,000). You would be listed as a member organisation on our website and on materials printed for the Voltaire dinner (if for any reason you would prefer not to be so listed you would only have to let us know). Any members of your organisation wishing to receive our regular emails and other updates would be able to do so (you would simply provide us with their email addresses).
The cost for this membership is $3,200. It is not designed to be a significant impost - it is however designed to extend our reach to let like-minded people know of the work we are doing and to secure our financial stability ongoing, as a not-for-profit organisation.
