Angie joined the Victorian Bar in October 2013. She has broad experience as an advocate in a variety of courts and tribunals, with a focus on criminal and administrative law matters.
Angie's advice and appearance work as sole counsel has included:
Federal Circuit Court: judicial review proceedings in migration law matters.
County Court: criminal and intervention order appeals, commercial trials.
Magistrates Court: criminal and intervention order matters.
Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal: civil claims list, guardianship list and review and regulation list.
Other tribunals: Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Social Security Appeals Tribunal and Mental Health Tribunal.
As a solicitor advocate at the Northern Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency from 2010 and 2012, Angie had a wide practice including serious assault, dishonesty, driving and sexual offence matters. She regularly appeared in the Summary and Supreme Courts, and gained experience in contested hearings, mental impairment hearings, pleas and bail applications.
Angie was a civil lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid from 2012 to 2013, where she had carriage of matters in areas including social security, migration, mental health, guardianship and administration, tenancy, discrimination, sexual harassment and victims of crime.
Before becoming a solicitor, Angie was an Associate to Her Honour Judge Hampel.
Angie was nominated for a Victorian Bar pro bono award in 2014 and is always prepared to consider requests from solicitors to act on a pro bono basis in appropriate matters.
