Dr Adam McBeth

Adam McBeth is an Associate Professor in the faculty of law at Monash University and a Deputy Director of the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law. Adam teaches international human rights law, international criminal law, administrative law and civil procedure, among other subjects.

He is the author of International Economic Actors and Human Rights (2010, Routledge), co-author of The International Law of Human Rights (2011, OUP, with Justine Nolan and Simon Rice) and co-editor of Research Handbook on International Human Rights Law (2010, Edward Elgar, with Sarah Joseph), and author of numerous book chapters and journal articles. His special research interests are the interaction between international human rights law and global economic activity, and the exercise of state power outside a state’s borders.

Adam has conducted human rights training for government and civil society representatives from Australia, Indonesia and Iraq. He was recently part of a research team from Monash University, the University of Melbourne and Oxfam Australia studying community experience of accountability processes in the context of development projects in Cambodia.

Adam has been a member of Liberty Victoria’s Policy Committee since 2014 and was the supervisor of Young Liberty for Law Reform’s ‘Equality Pod’ in 2014-15.
