LIBERTY VICTORIA EMPTY CHAIR AWARD: You can fight for human rights

Mehdi Ali will accept the Liberty Victoria Empty Chair Award at an awards dinner in November.

Mehdi Ali, a refugee from Ahvaz, Iran, was held in detention by Australia for almost a decade, from the age 15 until he was 24. He has now been afforded protection in the United States.

Mehdi has been a powerful and tireless advocate for refugees and people seeking asylum in detention, including onshore detention.

You can hear Mehdi on Friday 18 November at 7 pm at the Voltaire Awards Dinner at the Sofitel Hotel in Melbourne.  You’ll hear about his fight for justice in his own words.

Will you fight for justice and human rights by making a gift of $25, $50 or even $200 to Liberty Victoria?

The Voltaire event is Liberty Victoria’s primary fundraising event of the year.
It’s only with your generous support that Liberty can continue to protect the precious civil liberties and human rights of all Victorians.
